Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization for Managing Virtual Machines

Course Overview

Using the Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization operator, create and manage virtual machines on OpenShift.

Using the Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization operator, creating and managing virtual machines (VM) on OpenShift is covered in detail in the book Managing Virtual Machines with OpenShift Virtualization. There is no requirement for prior knowledge with Kubernetes or containers to take this course.

This course provides:

  • Competencies needed to construct, access, and administer virtual machines on OpenShift clusters.
  • The same Kubernetes capabilities that would govern usage and access to these resources for containers must be mastered in order to control usage and access of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources from VMs.
  • Examples of Kubernetes architectures that use OpenShift Virtualization's extensions and basic Kubernetes functionality to manage the High Availability (HA) of VMs.
  • Ways to connect OpenShift virtual machines (VMs) to data centre services, such as storage and databases that are not part of their OpenShift cluster.

Prerequisites for this course

Audience Profile

  • Administrators of virtual machines that want to transfer virtualized workloads from conventional hypervisors to OpenShift virtualization.
  • Containerized & virtualized workloads can be supported by Kubernetes administrators (Cluster Administrators, Cluster Engineers) in the same OpenShift cluster.
  • Site Reliability Engineers that are interested in managing Virtual Machines on OpenShift utilising GitOps and Ansible Automation.
