Training Overview
This training teaches you the skills needed to install, configure, & operate Nutanix Era for the purpose of managing databases. The installation & management of databases themselves are not part of this training.
In this training, you will explore a number of subjects, including:
- The what, the how, the why, & the benefits of database-as-a-service (DBaaS)
- Important Nutanix Era terms & concepts, like copy data management, time machine, provisioning profiles & data access management
- Implementing role-based access control (RBAC), including working with built-in & custom roles, & managing users & groups
- Adding multiple clusters to Nutanix Era, working with Nutanix Guest Tools, & registering a Nutanix cluster with Era
- Monitoring & investigating issues with Nutanix Era, including alert policies, notifications, & log collection
- Operations involved in protecting & restoring databases, including creating snapshots, cloning databases, log catch-up operations, refreshing clones, & restoring source databases
Prerequisites
This advanced training requires you to possess a basic Nutanix system administration skill set which includes the following:
- Familiarity with traditional virtualization storage architectures
- Hands-on experience with the Prism & Command-line interfaces
- An understanding of Nutanix's core concepts & definitions, which can be found here
These skills can be acquired by attending one of our basic admin training (Enterprise Cloud Administration) or through on-the-job experience by working on a Nutanix system for at least six months.

The NCX-MCI certification allows professionals to validate their advanced design skills & product knowledge by successfully presenting a template-guided solution to a panel of experts. Those who want to go deeper into the core AOS product, & for those who will be engaged in the post-sales implementation of G2000-scale solutions & the documentation required for success, the NPX Program is the next step.
To recertify an NCA v5 certification, you need to earn the NCA v6 or any NCP v6 certification.
A Nutanix v5 or v6 certification is obtained by passing a v5 or v6 exam. If you took multiple v5 or v6 exams (i.e., NCP-MCI 5.15 & NCP-MCI 5.20) related to the same certification, you would only see the relevant certification (i.e., NCP-MCI 5).
To attend the training session, you should have operational Desktops or Laptops with the required specifications, along with a good internet connection to access the labs.
