FortiGate Infrastructure

Course Overview

In this course, one will learn how to use the most common FortiGate networking & infrastructure features.

Topics include components commonly applied in complex or larger enterprise or MSSP networks, such as virtual domains (VDOMs), advanced routing, redundant infrastructure,  zero trust network access (ZTNA),  site-to-site IPsec VPN, SSL VPN, single sign-on (SSO), & diagnostics.

 

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge of OSI layers
  • Understanding of firewall concepts in an IPv4 network
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of FortiGate, as presented in the FortiGate Security course

Networking & security professionals involved in the design, implementation, & administration of a network infrastructure utilizing FortiGate devices should attend this course.

This course assumes knowledge of fundamental FortiGate fundamentals. One should have a thorough understanding of all the topics included in the FortiGate Security course before following the FortiGate Infrastructure course.

Learning Objectives

After accomplishment of this course, you should be able to:

  • Analyze a FortiGate route table
  • Route packets utilizing policy-based and static routes for multipath & load-balanced deployments
  • Divide FortiGate into 2 or more virtual devices, each acting as an independent FortiGate, by configuring virtual domains (VDOMs)
  • Comprehend the fundamentals & benefits of using ZTNA
  • Offer an SSL VPN for protected access to your private network
  • Establish an IPsec VPN tunnel between 2 FortiGate devices
  • Apply a meshed or partially redundant VPN
  • Diagnose flunked IKE exchanges
  • Offer Fortinet Single Sign-On (FSSO) access to network services, combined with Microsoft Active Directory (AD)
  • Deploy FortiGate devices as an HA cluster for fault tolerance & high performance
  • Diagnose & correct common problems
