The Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) developer platform has evolved into the Microsoft identity platform. It generally allows developers to build applications that sign in users and get tokens to call APIs like Microsoft Graph or APIs that developers have made with the unified Microsoft identity platform.

Microsoft Azure is Infrastructure in the Cloud. It is simply a processor, disk & RAM & users are still needed to upload & patch the software. Software as a Service is Microsoft Office 365. (SaaS) that is mainly managed & also routinely upgraded by Microsoft.
