Course Description
The primary goal of this course is to understand the purpose of Teradata Parallel Transporter (TPT) operators and how TPT load protocols work in Teradata. You will create and execute TPT scripts using various TPT operators. This course will also teach the BTEQ utility which allows you to create and execute BTEQ scripts to import and export data files.
Prerequisites
- Experience with large systems, relational databases and SQL, and an understanding of the Linux operating system is useful, but not required before attending this course.
- Basic knowledge about Teradata concepts and SQL
Target Audience
This course is designed for Teradata Associates, Partners and Customers who have some experience with the Teradata Database and need detailed technical information about how to create BTEQ and TPT scripts to import and export data.
Learning Objectives
Upon accomplishment of this course, participants will be able to:
- Use BTEQ to import and export data.
- Use the TPT Export Operator to export data and CSV files using TPT Export templates and variable files.
- Use the TPT Load Operator to import data for one and multiple data files using TPT Load templates and variable files.
- Use the TPT Update Operator scripts to import data files from a file list and use the TPT Update Delete task to perform a bulk delete of data rows.
- Use the TPT Stream Operator scripts to perform an UPSERT operation of user data using TPT Stream templates and variable files.
- Use the TPT DDL Operator in multiple step jobs to prepare data for the TPT import operators.
- Use the TDLOAD utility to load CSV data into a table.
- Explain the use of ODBC and OS Command operators.
- Identify the best choice of which utilities to use for various scenarios.
