Course Overview

In this course, you will learn about Voice over IP Technology, SIP protocol, Genesys SIP Server and supporting SIP components, and integration of Agent Desktops and SIP Endpoints with Genesys SIP Server. Genesys SIP Server Basics is the starting point for all other Genesys SIP Server courses in the Genesys University curriculum.

Genesys SIP Server is the Genesys software component that delivers an interface between your telephony hardware & the rest of the Genesys software components in your enterprise. It translates & keeps track of events and requests that come from, and are sent to the telephony device.

SIP server, also called SIP Proxy, deals with all the management of SIP calls in a network & is responsible for taking requests from the user agents in order to place & terminate calls.
